Hanazuki debuts with the company’s first animated series on YouTube.
Hasbro has launched a new story-driven lifestyle brand called Hanazuki, inspired by whimsical characters originally created by Amsterdam artists Niko Stumpo and Hanneke Metselaar. Hanazuki debuted this month with the company’s first ever animated digital series on YouTube and the YouTube Kids app.
The young Hanazuki embarks on a journey to save her moon from the dark forces that threaten to destroy it, meeting new friends and discovering a world of surprises along the way, ultimately learning that her ever-changing moods are quite powerful. The animated series, produced by Hasbro Studios in collaboration with Titmouse Studios, follows Hanazuki, spirited bunny-like creatures, a sleepy moon child, the self-appointed sheriff, and more.
Niko Stumpo and Hanneke Metselaar said in a press release: “We couldn’t be happier that our beloved HANAZUKI inspired Hasbro to further develop the colorful cast of characters and create such a unique and dynamic new world full of surprises and magical mayhem. It’s been incredible to see Hasbro evolve the HANAZUKI brand into so much more through vibrant storytelling, toys, and beyond.”
The Hanazuki brand will offer fans a number of ways to embrace their moods. There will be a digital app launching in April and branded consumer product offerings throughout the year. A toy line inspired by the series will launch this summer featuring over 175 collectible treasures and figures, plush items, and a Bluetooth-enabled and app-connected wearable that enables kids to share and express their moods.
The digital series will feature 27 11-minute animated episodes released throughout the year, timed to the full moons. The first nine episodes are available to watch now on the Hasbro YouTube page and in the YouTube Kids app. You can check out a short trailer for season one below:
